| Drink it all in, kiddoe. It's coming at you fast... |
We're five weeks in to the first 7-week "minimester" (two per semester). I spent most of the first few weeks dutifully completing all the readings and homeworks, while still managing to have time for a social life and participate in a variety of info sessions and sign up for clubs. "What were they talking about, that'd we'd be so busy we'd wish we were back at work," I thought.
That was before midterms.
Now, the exams themselves weren't what killed me, mind you. It was the fact that during the two weeks I was studying for and taking the midterms, our professors kept going over new material. When the last one was finished, I found myself in dire need of a break from studying, but 12 chapters behind across all my classes. Whoops.
Some people are naturally good at multitasking. The single-tracked minded people (of which I count myself a card-carrying member) find themselves as deft at balancing all their activities as this unfortunate gymnast.
But that's part of the process they teach you here. How do you juggle academics, clubs, career opportunities, friends, and staying in shape? You have to make tough decisions, prioritize, seek efficiency gains, and learn to say no. I guess it's all part of the education...
