'Cause you're hot then you're cold...

I have good news, Mrs. Connecticut Yankee! It's actually not hot here at all!

Or at least, you wouldn't know it if you stayed indoors all the time. Although it touched 106 the other day, most of the buildings are kept somewhere closer to 61. Which means, of course, that you have to either wear pants or bring a jacket. Or maybe both, if you're particularly poorly insulated.

I seem to have reached some semblance of an equilibrium, choosing to roll up my pants legs for my bike ride and then keep a sweatshirt in my locker in case it gets really cold. It's silly really, to go through this much trouble when there's all the warm you need outside. But it's embedded in the DNA of Texas Building Managers: you must overchill your buildings in the summer.

Four of us went to a movie the other day and when I realized that two of us had forgotten jackets, decided to get some napkins to cover up, just in case. They came in handy.
